Warm and cosy

It's World Wide Knit in Public Day on Saturday 13 June and locally there are a number of knitting circles and activities taking place.  The Teavotion Knitting Circle (run by organisers of the biennial tea cosy exhibition) will be meeting at Bundoora Homestead Art Centre on Saturday 13 June and Saturday 18 July from 1 - 4 pm.  The group also meets monthly on Wednesdays from 11 am - 2 pm with the next meeting on Wednesday 17 June.  A number of knitting gatherings will also be taking place throughout Banyule at various cafes, libraries and centres if you're interested in picking up your needles and having coffee and cake with fellow knitters.

Talking about textiles, I've long liked Australian made knitwear label Uimi, which is now available online, and I spied some of their scarves for sale at Heide Museum of Modern Art yesterday when I was volunteering there.

The weather is meant to improve over the long weekend and both the Carlton and Hurstbridge Farmers Markets are on.  A number of retailers have already started their mid-year sales so I daresay it will also be busy in the shopping centres around here as well.
