The circus is in town

Zirka Circus that is - I've not heard of them before but their show 'Send in the clowns' is just about to open in Heidelberg West.  I am a bit obsessed with circuses - I find them fascinating but am glad to hear that a lot of international circuses are no longer using trained animals.  Speaking of circuses, Circus Oz (founded in Melbourne in 1978) is also touring this month from 17 June and I will be seeing their show 'But Wait...There's More' at Birrarung Marr under the heated Big Top courtesy of my client Avant Card.  Incidentally, their postcard has just been selected as Postcard of the Month and will automatically go into Avant Card's Postcard of the Year Awards (POTY) being held in August.  I'm pleased to say that both circuses are animal-free.

I've been out on the road today and caught up with Jeannette Davison, the Arts Manager of Montsalvat in Eltham.  I got a sneak peek of the entrants for the Nillumbik Prize - the opening of which is being held on Thursday this week and there are some goodies in the show if you are able to attend.

Also starting this week on Friday is mosaic exhibition Andamento at Bundoora Homestead Art Centre.  Curated by Fiona Tettman, it features the work of Rachael Bremner, Donna Broadbent, Mikiah Nguyen, Cetta Pilati and Bev Plowman.  The official opening event is Saturday 13 June from 2pm.

Finally, if you're wanting to stay active over the winter, Action Yoga School in Ivanhoe will be starting an additional intermediate class on Tuesdays nights in term three, along with its Beginners classes on Thursday nights and general classes on Sunday mornings.

It sure has been a cold start to winter and I'll be back later this week.
