Handmade and Homemade

For the mothers out there, I hope you had a great Mother's Day weekend.  I spent mine catching up with both Mr Rosanna's mum and mine as well as receiving some lovely handmade cards and pressies from my boys (plus lots of hugs - the best presents of all!).  We had a yum cha of sorts at Tann's Restaurant in Ivanhoe - it's a relatively new place and you can choose Chinese dumplings and other yum cha items from an a la carte menu.  Given it was Mother's Day, they were very busy but the food was nice (it's had mixed reviews) and we had a good table up the back - the space is quite lovely and intimate.  Mr R had also made a quick dash into Jaclyn Roma Floral Design across the road to get his mum a beautiful bouquet of flowers - they have a real sense of style and are my favourite florist out this way but are more expensive than your average florist.

Speaking of food, I just wanted to mention the Darebin Homemade Food & Wine Festival by Darebin Arts starts today and runs for three weeks at various locations in Northcote and Preston.  If like me, you've started cooking comfort foods like roasts, casseroles and other baked dishes, then this one should be a goodie for winter menu ideas and more.  A number of events are already booked out and the highlight event is a Meet the Makers Showcase on this Saturday from 1 - 4 pm at Preston City Hall.

There are also a few new art exhibitions opening this week and I'll be back tomorrow with details on these.
