Spinning a yarn

We're now approaching mid Winter and it sure has been a crazy few days in Australia with the winter solstice, the super moon and now a new (old) Prime Minister.  I sometimes wonder what people overseas must think of us Aussies and all our goings on in politics.  Mr Rosanna and I have been watching Borgen on SBS most Wednesday nights and I almost prefer to watch a fictional TV drama series about the Danish female Prime Minister than turn on the television here....
I've been stocking up on vintage winter woollies and wanted to mention a couple of things.  Local textile artist Teresa Bennett is currently a Winter Artist in Residence at The Yarra Sculpture Gallery in Abbotsford and holding an Open Studio this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday from 12 - 5 pm.  Opening drinks are being held on Saturday and Teresa's works are quite sublime both in terms of the wools she uses to the designs she creates.

Yarn bombing has been popular for while now - think urban and suburban guerilla craft makers covering items in the outside environment in wool and you will get the idea.  Yarn Bomb Heide is being held this Sunday at Heide Museum of Modern Art in Bulleen where children are invited to join photographer Siri Hayes yarn bomb around Heide and then take a photograph of the scene just as Hayes has done for her exhibition at Heide.
